Quick Staff UK is recruiting an experienced Operations Delivery Manager to join an established and growing civil engineering business operating throughout the UK. Our client specialises in delivering civil engineering, groundworks and concrete foundation projects within the utilities and power sector.

This is a senior position offering a salary of £73,000 plus a company car or van, private healthcare, pension and 33 days’ annual leave.

The company’s head office is based in Newport, South Wales, and ideally you will live within reasonable travelling distance. Hybrid working is available, although the successful candidate will be expected to spend a significant proportion of their working week at the Newport office, alongside travel to project sites throughout the UK.

As Operations Delivery Manager, you will take responsibility for overseeing the successful delivery of projects, working closely with senior management, Project Managers, site teams, clients, the commercial team and SHEQ.

You will also have management responsibility for the Project Manager, providing direction and support across the company’s project portfolio.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the planning and delivery of civil engineering projects
  • Managing and supporting Project Managers and site delivery teams
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
  • Reviewing project objectives, budgets, programmes and schedules
  • Allocating resources and delegating responsibilities across projects
  • Monitoring project performance and identifying potential issues at an early stage
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
  • Attending client, design review and project progress meetings
  • Overseeing project cost control and commercial reporting
  • Reviewing technical documentation, drawings and subcontractor information
  • Overseeing RAMS, safe systems of work and project documentation
  • Ensuring procurement schedules are issued to site teams
  • Ensuring site installation works meet design and relevant industry standards
  • Managing NCRs, Early Warnings and Compensation Events in accordance with NEC4
  • Ensuring accurate site records, H&S files and handover documentation are maintained
  • Supporting tender and PQQ submissions
  • Promoting and maintaining a strong health & safety culture throughout the business

The company’s projects can involve planning works within high-voltage environments, including the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, lift plans and safe systems of work.

We are looking for an experienced construction or civil engineering professional who is comfortable taking ownership of operational delivery across multiple projects.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Degree, HND or HNC in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with Civil Engineering preferred
  • Strong construction and/or civil engineering experience
  • Project and operational management experience
  • Experience managing site teams and subcontractors
  • Strong commercial awareness and project cost-control experience
  • Good working knowledge of SHEQ requirements
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
  • AutoCAD 2D competency
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to travel to operational sites throughout the UK

Experience within high-voltage electricity transmission, substations, utilities or the wider power sector would be particularly advantageous.
