Quick Staff UK is recruiting for a practical and experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to join an established manufacturing business based in Ystrad Mynach.
This is a varied, hands-on position within a small facilities team, supporting the day-to-day maintenance and continued improvement of a busy manufacturing site.
We’re looking for someone with a good all-round maintenance background who is comfortable turning their hand to a variety of tasks including basic electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, planned preventative maintenance and general building repairs.
You’ll need to be confident working independently, managing your own workload and taking ownership of jobs from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general building, facilities and site maintenance
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to facilities and site equipment
- Undertake basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry work
- Carry out modifications and improvements to site facilities and services
- Coordinate and work alongside external contractors
- Ensure contractor work is completed safely and to the required standard
- Support site improvement and continuous improvement projects
- Prepare and maintain relevant documentation including risk assessments, work instructions and maintenance records
- Produce basic drawings, sketches and calculations where required
- Update maintenance activities and records using the Pirana management system
- Maintain clean, organised and safe working areas
- Support 5S, Lean and Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) practices across the site
- Assist the wider manufacturing operation with facilities-related requirements
Key Requirements
- Previous experience within a facilities, maintenance or multi-skilled technician role
- Practical experience of basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical installations
- NVQ Level 2/3 in a relevant craft skill, or a completed/in-progress craft apprenticeship
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Strong practical and fault-finding skills
- Able to work independently and prioritise your own workload
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Proactive, flexible and willing to tackle a variety of maintenance tasks
- Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Awareness of 5S and Lean manufacturing principles
- Competent using Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
Qualifications such as PASMA, IPAF and Forklift Truck would be advantageous but are not essential.
Hours & Salary
- Permanent, full-time position
- Fully site-based in Ystrad Mynach
- Salary of up to £32,000 per annum, depending on experience
